It seems like people are using the term “ghost car” to refer to those police cars with markings that you can barely see, graphics that probably skirt the laws that require police traffic enforcement vehicles to not be unmarked. But the term “undermarked car” was right there…
It’s probably good that Jon Stewart is returning to The Daily Show, but I haven’t forgotten his glee when T**** came down the escalator and announced his candidacy. He missed that one by a bit.
I keep seeing all this hang-wringing and such about Substack and Nazis, and it strikes me that that this wouldn’t be a problem if people just had their own blogs on their own websites, like using something like WordPress.
My friends Grifters & Shills get listed as one of the top 20 albums by Houston artists for 2023! Check out their great album Fireball.
I’m probably not the only person who has noticed that Texas’ environmental agency, TCEQ, is The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, not The Texas Commission for Environmental Quality.
I knew I’d forget some albums in my post about My Favorite Jazz Albums of 2023. There was also Dynamic Maximum Tension by Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society and Phoenix by Lakecia Benjamin. I was reminded of both by Downbeat’s article about the Grammy nominations. I have since updated the post.
I always celebrate New Years in ET. This Central Time stuff is for suckers.
It’s amazing that in 2023 (almost 2024) we are still having to push back against The Lost Cause narrative.
My Favorite Jazz Albums of 2023
My favorites include Artemis In Real Time, Joshua Redman where are we, Ambrose Akinmusire Owl Song, Christian McBride and New Jawn Prime, and I’d also include the two releases by Oscar Peterson (Con Alma and Live at the Tivoli Gardens) and Bill Evans’ Tales). Last but not least, Generation S by Peter Martin, not just because I own the cover painting, but it doesn’t hurt.
Edit: I knew I’d forget some albums. There was also Dynamic Maximum Tension by Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society and Phoenix by Lakecia Benjamin. I was reminded of both by Downbeat’s article about the Grammy nominations. I haven’t heard most of the rest of the nominations but they are on my list to check out.
is it me or should Apple’s Weather app icon show the current conditions (temperature and graphically sun/clouds/precip)? I know I could use a widget, but those are larger. Clock and Calendar do it.
