> Despite Everything You Think You Know, America Is on the Right Track – The Atlantic

Last September I paid $200 to replace the battery in my 2018 MacBook Pro. Last weekend it was completely dead. Apple is telling me it will be $678+tax to send it to a repair center. Could it cost even more to repair? I couldn’t tell from her answer.

Fix it or replace it?

When people talk about last year being a bad year, I think of equanimity and the parable of the farmer and the horse, shared and explained here. https://www.coaching-online.org/chinese-farmer-parable/

In fact, I try not to get caught up in judging things as good or bad at all.

My body clock is ridiculous. No matter what time I go to bed, I almost slowest wake up before 6 am, 7 at the latest. For instance, I got about four hours of sleep after last night’s festivities. Cripes.

I believe that calendar years are an arbitrary marker of time (look up how we ended up with the current calendar). So I don’t put much weight on the “quality” of any year.

That being said, if you find it a good opportunity for renewal, that’s a good thing.

Every December 26 I say, “Happy Boxing Day” and then I have to go look up what Boxing Day is again.

Why can’t they make those “comfortable” men’s shoes with dark soles so they look a little less like sneakers?

It’s always bugged me that weather people and apps talk about the lows on “[weekday] night“ when they’re talking about the temperature the following morning. I’ve never thought the temperature before sunrise was part of the previous day. I believe Apple’s Weather gets this right.

People talk about how much they enjoy hanging out with opinionated people. They can be fun until you end up on the wrong side of their opinions.
